4th Sunday of Advent - Year A - Holy Is His Name
In the Gospel on this Fourth Sunday of Advent (Mt. 1:18-24), Jesus is conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the Prophet: “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means “God is with us.”
In honour of this Gospel, we would like to share our latest video, "Holy Is His Name", a hymn based on the Canticle or Song of Mary (Luke 1:46-55), which Mary proclaims after the jubilant meeting of Mary, pregnant with Jesus, and her relative Elizabeth, pregnant with St. John the Baptist.
This canticle is not only the inspiration for "Holy Is His Name," it has been a daily hallmark of the prayer of the Church for centuries.
